News Clippings Gallery – APRO Files

These are large files.

The Aerial Phenomena Research Organization was one of the earliest UFO Investigative Agencies. It began in January 1952 and remained active until 1988. The Tuscon, Arizona based organization was started by Jim and Coral Lorenzen.

According to Wikipedia, “In 1969, a sizable portion of APRO’s membership elected to form a new group named the “Midwest UFO Network”; this soon expanded and became the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), still active today.”

This section has the complete APRO Newspaper Clippings collection in PDF format.  These files were given to us in this form, and they contain pages of microfilm slides of the APRO’s File Cabinet #1.

A second possible file cabinet was lost to history but a third was recently recovered by the National UFO Historical Records Center headed by researcher David Marler on November 25th, 2023. MUFON congratulates Mr. Marler for retrieving the contents of file cabinet # 3 believed lost for over 35 years.

The contents of File Cabinet #3 are not part of this APRO collection.

It may take a few moments to load and open, even with fast internet connections and modern devices.

There is no way to fully index the content of these files at this time, so searching for content is not enabled on this page.  If anyone has suggestions about how to make the actual content searchable, I would love to hear it!  You can reach out to web.dir@mufon.com with suggestions.
